The Impact of Pornography on Young People: Research, Practice, and Solutions
The average age of first exposure to pornography is between 9 and 11 years old. What happens to young people when consuming hypersexualized and pornographic material? Their attitudes and behaviors are shaped by what they see — most of which is degrading, misogynistic, and violent.
Culture Reframed’s virtual conference will address the many harms of pornography to children with a focus on child sexual abuse. Experts from multiple fields will share emerging research and first-hand experience identifying pornography consumption as a driver of child sexual abuse. The event will explore the growing trend of child-on-child sexual abuse and adult men who develop a sexual interest in children due to porn habituation.
Featuring doctors, psychologists, and front-line child protection professionals, this event will help attendees develop a clear understanding of:
- The effects of porn on the social, emotional, and cognitive development of young people;
- How porn influences child sexual assault; and
- What you can do.
Anyone interested in learning more about this topic — whether you are a medical professional, child advocate, or a concerned parent — is invited to join us on November 16. Together, we can spread awareness of the growing dangers of the pornography industry and help intervene to prevent the harms of porn on young people.
