At Culture Reframed, we believe young people have the right to be the author of their own sexuality, free from the coercive and manipulative tactics of the porn industry. As we celebrate Pride Month, we recognize that LGBTQIA+ youth are disproportionately vulnerable to sexual exploitation, especially by the porn industry. Many young people, including LGBTQIA+ youth, turn to porn to learn about sex, and the consequences can be dire. What young people need is sex ed that is comprehensive, accurate, and inclusive.
That is why we are so thrilled about the upcoming launch of our new, porn-critical sex education curriculum, designed for educators and professionals who work with youth. This research-based curriculum aims to help kids develop a non-exploitive understanding of sex and relationships. By properly educating young people about sex and relationships using a porn-critical lens, we can counter the emotional, behavioral, and sexual harms of pornography on children and youth.
